2013 Golf Tournament News |
The 2013 Golf Tournament was a success and The Arc clients are the Big Winners!
This year’s title sponsor, Poole Realty, was joined by corporate sponsors, Potash Corporation, Macclenny’s Wal-Mart Distribution and Lake City’s Timco, along with 65 other area businesses, to help The Arc raise over $5,200.
Attracting some of the area’s best golfers, this year’s tournament also got the attention of some of The Arc’s clients and staff members who came to the course just to have fun on the putting green. “For our clients, hitting the ball for the first time was the highlight of their day because every time they took a swing, they were greeted by rousing applause.” Lake said.

 The Arc North Florida just finished up with one of the favorite events of the year. The Annual Lawn Mower Race brought over 150 supporters out to join the fun and raise awareness of the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Track was set up at John's Lawn Equipment in Live Oak and John supplied the Snapper mowers. Track Sponsors, Pit Stops and racers sponsored by community businesses and families showed up to support and compete for the win! Team heats started at 10:00 AM with a racing frenzy. Over 30 business sponsored racers in the individual category and gave awesome items to the raffle.
Riders traveled at the lighting speed of 5 MPH around the figure eight track as they battled their opponents at the Pit Stops! When thunder and lightning forced everyone to move inside, the day was not a total washout because the participants found great deals in John's store and food prepared by the Boy Scouts.
Although the day ended differently than we had envisioned, the event was still a success and we give a big thank you to all the participants, especially the sponsors and volunteers, that helped raise over $9,500.
